Dean Olmstead is the Senior Director, Capital Management for the Edmonton zone in Alberta Health Services. Dean has over 30 years of health care experience, over 25 years of which are in leadership roles in health care support service portfolios. The Capital Management portfolio includes Project Management, Facilities Maintenance & Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Protective & Parking Services and Property Management; and also strategic capital planning, space and real estate management.
Dean’s team is responsible for 265 owned or leased facilities, which includes over 1.7 million square meters of space. He has participated in several large health care facility design and construction projects, including the Walter C Mackenzie Health Sciences Centre, Emergency department, Stollery Children’s Hospital, Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, and more recently the Kaye Edmonton Clinic.
Dean is a Professional Engineer within Alberta, achieved Certification as a Clinical Engineer, and has degrees in Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Masters of Science in Electrical/Biomedical Engineering from the University of Alberta.
