Leif Aarrestad, B.Env.D, CT(Arch), is a Senior Project Manager with Shared Health Manitoba’s Project Design & Delivery team. Leif started his career as an architectural technologist and had an opportunity to work on his first healthcare project in 2006. He immediately fell in love with the complexity of the built environment and the human experience of healthcare work and has remained focused solely on healthcare since that first project. Leif is now overseeing the delivery of many Diagnostic Imaging projects throughout the Province of Manitoba, and is currently leading a multi-phase renewal of imaging equipment in five cardiac procedure labs at St. Boniface Hospital. The volume of patients being treated in these labs is high enough that it is not feasible to have any patient down-time during the construction period. As such, a multi-phase project plan has been developed in which it has become abundantly clear that the success of the project will reside with the ability to maintain a smooth operational readiness plan throughout.
