Tara Wilson (she/her) is the Director of the Health Capital Policy and Program Branch at the Ministry of Health. In this role, she leads the branch’s policy, finance, and project review functions, supporting the planning, funding, and oversight of health capital investments across Ontario. Tara also leads the Ministry of Health’s oversight of Hospital Capital Design Standardization, advancing opportunities to reduce cost and variability, accelerate project planning and delivery, and support more efficient, sustainable healthcare infrastructure across the province. Tara has extensive experience in health policy, hospital funding, strategic planning, and healthcare capital investment within Ontario’s health system.
Tara has progressed through increasingly senior leadership roles within the Ministry of Health, including Director, Hospitals Branch, where she led provincial hospital oversight, operational policy, funding programs, and annual planning processes. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she provided leadership on critical hospital policies and funding initiatives, working closely with hospitals, Ontario Health, and government partners to support the province’s health system response and recovery.
Earlier in her career, Tara held a range of leadership and policy roles focused on hospital funding, accountability, and policy and program development. Throughout these roles, she contributed to the design and implementation of strategic initiatives that strengthened healthcare system sustainability and access to care for Ontarians.
Tara holds a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Ottawa.
