Marco has over 28 years of experience as a leader in the health care industry, with extensive expertise in institutional and commercial facilities planning, design and project management. He has spent the majority of his career in senior management positions with the Lower Mainland Health Authorities, serving 25 years with Fraser Health Authority which included 7 years of additional service to Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, Provincial Health Services Authority and Provincial Health. His involvement with British Columbia’s health authorities and dedication to his work has resulted in the successful completion of hundreds of projects, in all aspects of the health care continuum.
In 1988, Marco began his career in Architecture working as a designer in private practice, for two firms in Calgary. Three years later, Marco was hired by the Fraser Burrard Hospital Society where he performed the roles of senior planner, project manager and department manager, with responsibilities in planning, design, contract documentation, tendering and construction. Marco was named a Director at Fraser Health in 2001 and was given the opportunity to manage the Real Estate Department, which included responsibilities such as oversight of land development, leasing and property management. When he was named Executive Director in 2009, Marco was given the added responsibility of strategic development and took the lead role in developing health care facility solutions. It has been these solutions which have become catalysts for healthcare transformation, which ultimately have contributed towards a sustainable and universal health system.
Marco started his own architecture firm in early 2016, MB Architecture Inc. specializing in providing Design Management Services to Ellis Don Construction and various institutional clients.
