Kent R. Riopelle

Kent brings a wide range of professional experience to his work, which focuses on pre-design planning—bridging the gap between operations and facility planning and design. Highly valued for his interpersonal skills, he helps healthcare systems visualize and optimize workflow in complex environments. With deep expertise in health services planning, clinical workflow redesign, hospital functional planning, facility processes redesign, lean healthcare planning, organizational and change management, and process and quality improvement, Kent leads healthcare organizations through the process of developing work spaces that meet their operational goals. Prior to joining Blue Cottage, Kent was a process improvement consultant with the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) in Vancouver, where he led new and improved healthcare processes across eight agencies. Kent received his Doctorate of Science degree in Medical Systems Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland, his Master of Science degree in Systems Ergonomics from Loughborough University in Loughborough, UK, and his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Health Sciences. Kent received his Evidence-based Design Accreditation and Certification from the Center for Health Design.
