Drawing on over 35 years of healthcare experience, Ian brings a unique Hybrid, owners/designers perspective to this discussion. A seasoned hospital capital planning and operations executive, Ian has lead some of Canada’s most celebrated projects including the Credit Valley Hospital Ambulatory Care and Cancer Centre Redevelopment and the Bridgepoint Health Master Plan returning later as VP Redevelopment at Bridgepoint to finish the implementation stage of the project and eventually transitioning as VP Operations for Sinai Health after the merger of Bridgepoint with Mount Sinai Hospital. As a Partner and Principal at architectural firms for the second half of his career, Ian has leveraged his “owners” background to successfully lead several large health care projects from the Prime Consultants side, including the New Colchester East Hants Hospital in Nova Scotia, PDC team for the $2B QE2 Health Sciences Centre Redevelopment in Halifax and is currently Kasian’s’ PIC for several large projects in the GTA including the expansion and renovation of the SHN ED/Amb Care Clinics, the Bridletowne Neighbourhood Centre in Scarborough (a Joint SHN/YMCA Project) and The Rockwood Terrace LTC/Assisted Living project in Durham. By harnessing the collective wisdom of his team and clients, Ian integrates hospital operating best practices with facility design to ensure clients do not put yesterday’s organizations into today’s buildings.
