King is an international leader in design innovation. He has practiced and taught across Canada and in London, Berlin, Budapest, Rome, Seville, and Copenhagen. His work has been critically recognized with international design awards and publications. King is a Canada Council for the Arts Prix de Rome Laureate and was selected one of Canada’s “design leaders” by the Globe and Mail. In 2012, he received two AIA Progressive Architecture (P/A) Awards of Excellence and has two Canadian Architect Awards of Excellence (2000, 2010).
From 2008 to 2015, King lead design strategies at Cannon Design where he was the firm’s Design Strategies Director and a member of the Board of Directors. He has joined the Montreal based multidisciplinary firm Lemay in January 2016 as Chief Design Officer leading design at lemay|lemayLAB. His previous work includes the two billion dollar CHUM super-hospital in Montreal, the Capilano University Film School, Wilfrid Laurier University Sports Centre, Ryerson University’s Faculty of Science, York University’s New Student Centre, Western University’s Brain and Mind Institute and Laval’s Place Bell.
