BC’s virtual and digital health services across the Provincial Health Services Authority and the broader BC health sector accelerated during the COVID-19 pandemic. With rapid adjustment in healthcare delivery required, PHSA led widespread adoption of digital and virtual health technologies, with a goal of reducing the flow of patients in PHSA’s specialized care facilities while continue to maintain high levels of service. This disruption of how healthcare was being delivered highlighted innovative ways to provide patient better access to both care and health information. This presentation will highlight some of the technologies implemented to support patients during the pandemic, the associated benefits and outcomes, and what our future digital and virtual health opportunities may look like.
