Dr. Sutherland is the Director of the Centre for Health Services and Policy Research (CHSPR) and is the UBC Professor of Health Services and Policy in the University of British Columbia’s School of Population and Public Health (SPPH).
Dr. Sutherland has been leading policy and health services research in two domains: health care funding policy and variations in patients’ health status attributable to health services. Dr. Sutherland has extensive collaborative relationships with health services researchers, decision-makers and clinicians across Canada, the US and Europe. Dr. Sutherland has provided advice and recommendations on health system funding policies to a number of provincial governments and Health Canada.
Dr. Sutherland is also the Division Head of Health Services and Policy in UBC’s School of Population and Public Health and the Program Head of Health Outcomes in the Centre for Advancing Health Outcomes at Providence Healthcare.
