A Director of HDR’s Canadian Health practice, Barbara has extensive experience developing outcome‑focused healthcare design standards, contributing to Ontario hospital design standards and offering valuable lessons in shifting from prescriptive to outcome‑driven approaches. She was also a valued contributor to Code Plus: Physical Design Components for an Elder‑Friendly Hospital, 2nd Edition, and led the creation of the Long-Term Care Design Manual that has supported development of more than 40,000 beds across Ontario. In addition, Barbara has advised both provincial and federal associations on pandemic planning and post‑COVID standards, and directed over $4 billion in healthcare projects, including several award‑winning works, combining design expertise with policy‑level advisory roles for innovative, outcome‑driven solutions.
