Alberta’s Building Performance Evaluation Studies & Outcomes

Alberta Health, Alberta Infrastructure and Alberta Health Services are partners in healthcare facility planning and development, including facility evaluation. For selected projects, the team conduct research on specific elements of building design. The balanced scorecard methodology for Building Performance Evaluations (BPE) will be presented. Two projects will be highlighted – a 2011 pilot study (led by AB Infrastructure) on a new hospital tower in Calgary, and a 2018 study (led by AHS) for two new rural healthcare facilities in northern Alberta. A Project Management Lessons Learned methodology and a POE methodology (for schools) will also be presented.
