Carole Després Ph.D

Carole Després Ph.D. is responsible for teaching architectural programming and evaluation in the Master of Architecture program and human aspects of urban form in the Master of Urban Design program. She acts as scientific director of the Schola.ca action research project whose mission is to develop a web platform of expertise in school architecture by 2022. She is also director of the Interdisciplinary Research Group on Suburbs (GIRBA), whose activities she has coordinated for 20 years with the aim of understanding the uses and meanings of these living environments and acting on their architectural and urban updating from a sustainable development perspective. Over the years, these research groups have welcomed numerous candidates from the Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Master of Architecture and Science in Architecture (research or urban design) programs and PhDs in ATDR and Architecture, as well as several postdoctoral fellows. Many students in geography, sociology, anthropology, geomatics, nutrition, education, psychology, communication, web interface design and product design join these teams.

 

Carole Després Ph.D. est responsable de l’enseignement de la programmation et de l’évaluation architecturales au sein du programme de maîtrise en architecture et des aspects humains de la forme urbaine à la maîtrise en design urbain. Elle agit comme directrice scientifique du projet de recherche-action Schola.ca dont la mission est de développer d’ici 2022 une plateforme Web d’expertise en architecture scolaire. Elle est aussi directrice du Groupe interdisciplinaire de recherche sur les banlieues (GIRBA) dont elle coordonne les activités depuis 20 ans dans le but de comprendre les usages et les significations de ces milieux de vie et d’agir sur leur mise à jour architecturale et urbaine dans une perspective de développement durable. Ces groupes de recherche ont accueilli au fil des ans de nombreux candidats du baccalauréat en sciences de l’architecture, des programmes de maîtrise en architecture, et sciences de l’architecture (recherche ou design urbain) et des doctorats en ATDR et en architecture, ainsi que plusieurs stagiaires postdoctoraux. Des nombreux étudiants en géographie, sociologie, anthropologie, géomatique, nutrition, éducation, psychologie, communication, design d’interface web et design de produits se greffent à ces équipes.
